Introduction

The dream of establishing a Medical University in Larkana was fulfilled through announcement by the honorable Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto on 12th April, 2008. The bill for Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University was presented and unanimously passed by Sindh Assembly on 12th September, 2008. The Act was sent to honorable Governor of Sindh for assent and subsequently the act was notified on 18th October, 2008. The ground-Breaking ceremony of the University was performed by the then President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari on 30th December, 2009. A team of Higher Education Commission (HEC) officials along with Medical Experts visited the University and accredited it. The University has following constituent colleges and institutions: Chandka Medical College, Larkana. Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College, Sukkur. Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Larkana. Benazir College of Nursing, SMBBMU, Larkana. Institute of Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Siences SMBBMU Larkana. Institute of Pharmacy, SMBBMU, Larkana. Objectives of University for Undergraduate Degree Programs: The objective of Degree Program at SMBBMU is to provide a good account of fundamentals in the Medical field. Basic knowledge is supplemented with latest applied approaches during clinical training including diagnostic and radiological investigations. Comprehensive programs are designed to inculcate self-learning skills and analytical approaches to solve medical problems, ultimately producing young medical professionals capable of delivering effective health services to the masses or undertaking advance studies and research. Undergraduate Courses: MBBS course (Five year plan) BDS course (Four year plan). Pharm-D course (Five year plan) Degree Program in Nursing. Doctor of Physiotherapy (Five year plan)

Admission Rules

Rules of Admissions
Important: Applications received after the due date will not be accepted. Submit via approved courier only.
The application for admission to 1st year MBBS/BDS shall be invited through an advertisement in the leading newspapers mentioning the last date of receiving such applications. The applications received after due date shall not be accepted. The application shall be submitted through approved courier service.
Candidates are required to fill separate form for admission in MBBS and BDS course.
All seats in various districts are open for competition. Nobody shall be denied admission on the ground of gender, religion, color and caste.
Competition in each district shall take place among candidates of that district (same district). Thus, a candidate from one district shall not compete with a candidate of other districts.
Candidates have to fill online form and print it from the website of respective processing universities of tagged districts.
Candidates have to attach required documents separately for each program i.e. MBBS & BDS as per check list and submit it to designated centers of Leopard Courier Service.
Leopard Courier Service will charge a total of Rs.3,500 as processing fee inclusive of courier charges from the candidates for each of program (MBBS & BDS) separately.
All documents should be duly attested by a government officer of grade 17 or above.
All admissions are provisional, subject to verification of original documents submitted by the candidate. Any error can be rectified at any stage of admission. No compensation will be offered to the candidate, if at any stage it is proved that the candidate has been admitted on the basis of false or forged documents or information, admission shall be cancelled immediately after giving him / her an opportunity to show cause and the fee, if any deposited, shall be forfeited and university will have the right to take legal action against the candidate as per rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria of the Candidates
The minimum educational qualification of candidates for admission to the First Year MBBS/BDS course in institutes of Sindh Province under all admission categories must be:
— Passed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSSC) or F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) with at least 60% (660/1100) marks in aggregate or equivalent examination recognized by IBCC.
— Grace marks will not be considered.
Candidates applying under General Merit, Merit-cum-Choice, University Development Programs, University Education Assistance Program, and Disabled Seats must:
— Hold Permanent Residence of respective tagged districts of Sindh.
— Have their father/mother (in case of father’s death or divorce) also holding PRC of Sindh Province.
Successful candidates will be admitted as per tagged district on merit-cum-choice basis, and in case of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical College, Lyari Karachi, as per town allocation.
Candidate must have passed MDCAT-2024 OR MDCAT-2025 conducted by IBA Sukkur with at least:
55% marks for admission in MBBS
50% marks for admission in BDS
Merit list will be prepared according to the following weightage formula:
SSC / Matriculation / Equivalent — 10%
HSSC / F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or Equivalent — 40%
MDCAT — 50%
The category of admission of any student will not be changed until completion of the program. Fees shall be charged according to the initial admission category.

One candidate each for Azad Jammu & Kashmir Medical College Muzaffarabad & Poonch Medical College, Rawalkot shall be selected as per the policy of Health Department, Government of Sindh.
